Psychiatry is a speciality which involves diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders. At KVT Hospitals, we provide Psychiatric outpatient (OP consultation) and inpatient (admission) services. We provide treatment for Psychiatric Disorders both with and without medicines. We help people to quit alcohol, cigarette, Hans, cannabis (ganja). We are the only place in North Chennai where Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation is provided which helps in treatment of Stress symptoms, Depression, Anxiety without medicines.

At Psychiatry Clinic of KVT Hospitals, we spend adequate time with patients, do a comprehensive clinical assessment; provide a detailed explanation of the distress/ disease; provide both pharmacological and non-pharmacological management.

Anxiety Disorder is a condition where a patient feels intense, excessive and persistent fear and worry about everyday situations. Physically the heart rate would rise; rapid breathing, feeling tired and sweating could be the symptoms of this disorder.

Panic Disorder is an intense fear that brings on panic attack. Panic Disorder may bring chest pain, increased heart rate, choking feeling and palpitations.

Personality Disorder is a medical condition where thinking, feeling and behavior of the patient deviates from the expectations of the culture. These cause distress and problems in normal functioning of the patient and continue for a long time.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a mental condition where the patient overly focuses on perfection, control, too much focus on details and would work excessively and maybe inflexible.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a condition where a patient undergoes regular mental and emotional stress occurring as a result of injury or severe psychological shock. It may be triggered by a terrifying event that the patient experienced or witnessed it.

Schizophrenia is a disease that is chronic and it is a severe mental disorder that affects the patient’s way of thinking, understanding reality and response to situations.

Depression is a medical condition where the patient has mood disorder. The patient always feels sad and loses interest in everything. This could lead to physical and emotional issues and should be treated effectively.

Bipolar disorder is a mental disorder where the patient’s mood swings between excessively happy to excessively sad or irritated. These intense emotional state continues for days or even weeks.
